I don’t know about you but I love the month of January. While the weather in Michigan is not so pleasant, January signifies a fresh start. A whole month for me to pretend like I’m actually going to start working out regularly and cleaning up after myself.
I wanted to share some of the things I have been loving this month!
- “The Popcast” Podcast, podcasts are seriously my jam. After months of Jeff telling me to give them a try and me rolling my eyes and declaring them “nerdy and boring” I found one that I adore. The Popcast covers various aspects of pop culture in a light and hilarious format. While I do listen to more “serious” podcasts too (I’m deep and complicated) the Popcast is something I listen to every single week. I recommend starting here >>>> Popcast starter episodes
- The documentary “13th” and the book “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson. Both of these discuss mass incarceration in the US and racial inequality. I would highly recommend you check both of these out. “13th” is streaming on Netflix.
- This recipe —Vegan Buddha Bowl. This month I have been following a whole foods/plant-based approach to eating (more on this later). This recipe is so simple and delicious. The red pepper sauce takes it to ANOTHER LEVEL.
- These jeans – I had never even heard of Uniqlo before my trip to New York earlier this month (thank you, Melissa). These jeans are incredibly comfortable and fit really well! I have a hard time finding jeans that fit the way I want them to and these rock and the price is right!5. This ^^^^^^^^^. Amongst all the turmoil and division I find this simple reminder very powerful. As I say to my students “friends speak kindly to each other”. We all deal with enough stuff on our own, let’s build each other up. Sound good? Great!
