We had so much fun in beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica! Most of our days were spent at the beach reading. Meredith read 3 books and Jeff read 1.5, we are pretty proud of that! We really enjoyed the quality time and break from every day life.
Our trip began with an early flight out of Detroit, we left for Charlotte at 8:30 and then Charlotte to Montego Bay at 11:30
We made it through customs and took a cab to our resort. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a warm towel and a mimosa, the staff treated us like royalty! Throughout the entire trip we talked about how genuinely nice everyone was. We had our own butler assigned to our room who made dinner reservations for us and checked in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The first night we had dinner at the buffet, I don’t know if either of us have ever seen so much food in our lives!
After dinner that night we headed to the beach where there was a New Year’s Eve party complete with a live band, dancers, a DJ, and even fire breathers. It was definitely one of our favorite New Year’s celebrations!
A typical day for us was waking up at 8:30. We would either order breakfast to our room or go to one of the buffets. We loved the fresh fruit, omelettes, and blue mountain coffee. From there, we would head to the beach and/or pool.
There we would read, kayak, and nap.
At 11:00 we went to yoga
Then we would return to the beach for the rest of the afternoon for some more reading/kayking/napping, with lunch and snacks somewhere in there 🙂
After we had our fill with the sun we would head back to our room to shower and get ready for dinner. We were able to try out 5 different restaurants while we were there, all of them were delicious! We had Jamaican, Italian, Japanese, Surf & Turf, and we experienced a “gourmet” restaurant.
After dinner we enjoyed sitting in the lobby or out on the balcony with drinks or coffee. We did one excursion outside of the resort while we were there. We went on a horseback riding tour. The highlight of the experience was riding the horses in a private cove. Our guides were Jamaican locals who had us laughing the entire time.
Overall, it was an amazing trip and we can’t wait to return one day! xo, Meredith
